Ehh, you can try looking at some prelim papers (heaps in BOS resource section, check it out) and you will most likely see some out of order with your school. My prelim exam had like what most schools had as their prelim topic test papers 1 and 2 had in it cause we were a bit slow.

Do this during the holidays. During schooltime just revise and maybe do one subject per day, past papers actually take a reasonable amount of time to complete, unless you just decide to answer the questions in your head.

Don't stress. Engineering at UNSW has many ways to get in, for example if you happen to get an atar in the 80s you can still have a chance to be interviewed and still get in.

You should try doing trial papers and pick out the questions your school has done, as most schools do the prelim syllabus out of order.

Lol, that'll only work for accelerants. That's 6-9 hrs on purely maths per day and is a bit too much imo.

95. Regarding the uni, I reckon UNSW will be the better option in the long run because it has a better reputation and is one of the better unis for engineering in NSW (I haven't heard much regarding newcastle uni). If you don't make the atar cutoff you can possibly get bonus points from maths...

yep 1st ranking gets a 70 external + 92 internal, which becomes 70 + 92 / 2 = 81

It's either that or the bell curve theory lol. I'm not sure which one is correct but both seem reasonable. Can anyone confirm which is correct o. O?

The 5th ranked internal student will get the 5th highest external mark from the HSC. Would not get that 70 necessarily. It would be much less than 70 (since that was 2nd). This may seem unfair but it's how the system works I believe, so pretty much reflects on the work you've done throughout...
