Electrical Engineering or Software Engineering/Computer Science

I'm actually really interested in Mech/Arts at USYD (In case I decide against SENG/EE at UNSW). The program progression is more balanced than UNSW. What is the atmosphere like at USYD? How are the facilties? Others have posted that the buildings look like public high schools only more depressing...

Electrical Engineering or Software Engineering/Computer Science

yeah it will definitely get more difficult.. lol yeah otherwise I'd have no chance at passing any of the courses

Electrical Engineering or Software Engineering/Computer Science

I like the ME program at USYD and the EE program at UNSW :P ME at UNSW will probably cover the same but the progression is a bit different. A friend of mine studying EE in the US showed me some homework and there was maths on there I was completely unfamiliar with, a lot of notation I'd never...

Electrical Engineering or Software Engineering/Computer Science

I've tried a bit of JAVA and it's not too bad. Kinda fun actually.

Electrical Engineering or Software Engineering/Computer Science

The maths in EE was what put me off initially and not so much the amount of maths but the type of maths. The concepts in ME are more to my liking. Do any of you know what working as an ME is like? Do you spend a lot of time in workshops doing hands on things or behind a computer? I don't want...

Electrical Engineering or Software Engineering/Computer Science

I assumed. Compared to ME would you say EE is more difficult or about the same? I know a bit more about ME so a comparison might give me some idea of the difficulty.

Electrical Engineering or Software Engineering/Computer Science

So far I know that both EE and ME can lead me to some of the fields I previously mentioned having an interest in. I think finding a job with a degree in Mechatronics is a bit of a challenge and since I don't have a good enough reason to take Mechatronics I decided to stick to the more...

Electrical Engineering or Software Engineering/Computer Science

tbh I've only considered SENG recently.. originally I was torn between Mechanical and Electrical and for a while I thought I'd do Mechanical but I really have NO idea what the workplace for a mechanical engineer looks like so I started looking into SENG. I'm interested in all three but I don't...

Electrical Engineering or Software Engineering/Computer Science

understood it's nice to hear you're happy with the choice you made, hopefully I'll make the right decision too :)

Electrical Engineering or Software Engineering/Computer Science

Are you happy with the choice you made both course wise and uni wise? If you had the chance to choose a different course/uni, would you?

Electrical Engineering or Software Engineering/Computer Science

This is what drew me to engineering in the first place because it feels like a team environment and the work looks more fulfilling than regular office jobs.

Electrical Engineering or Software Engineering/Computer Science

I assume since you know so much about EE you're studying it? Are the laboratory components enjoyable? Are the tutors helpful if you don't understand something?

Electrical Engineering or Software Engineering/Computer Science

Good to know because sometimes I get the idea that if you haven't done 4u you're in for disaster.
  14. clementinez

Electrical Engineering or Software Engineering/Computer Science

That's good to know because I don't think I'll have the time to learn to program before uni starts. Do you happen to know anything about the workshops in SENG? I've asked around but I don't know anyone doing SENG and people on forums just usually say they're not worth it without any further...

Electrical Engineering or Software Engineering/Computer Science

this in bold so much^^ half the time when I'm reading up on these courses I don't understand what I'm reading and I assumed there would be maths embedded into other courses which is why asked my maths knowledge is around 3 unit because I self studied that content and had 2 unit at school... I'm...

    creative writing major

So this is a really late reply but since no one has said anything I'll give you my 2c. At one point I considered majoring in creative writing but decided on English instead. You could minor in it if you want to practice your writing skills. Be aware that creative writing is geared more towards...

got it Thanks for the input :)

Electrical Engineering or Software Engineering/Computer Science

The reason I asked where the maths is more intense is because I have a friend in CS that keeps complaining about the maths that it's killing him and he's been mentioning discrete maths a lot..

Electrical Engineering or Software Engineering/Computer Science

MATH1081 Discrete Mathematics (6 UOC) MATH2400 Finite Mathematics (3 UOC) MATH2859 Prob, Stats and Information (3 UOC) are required in SENG, apart from 1A and 1B

Electrical Engineering or Software Engineering/Computer Science

I've been told that in CS it's preferable to do discrete maths which is 2nd yr if I recall correctly. Actually I think it's required in SENG. I'l have to check, I'm mixing them up now.
