I think like I would get a middle 50 abstract, top 10 or 15 math, then top 15 reading, and middle 50 writing at this rate so I better lock in
Yeah let's both lock in, we can do this! I rlly need to work on maths though... hast maths is rlly different from what you get in school, you gotta be good at reasoning.

yeah, for maths it is logic, probability, and data heavy like analysis, the science aspect is basically just in data analysis since u basically get the info and there are lots of patterns and cycles

trust time management for HAST is key especially like math, the questions are tough
Yeah I think the time pressure is what brought me down to middle 50. I had to guess so many questions. I'm also preparing for edutest this year, and they have like 60 questions and 30 mins 💀

Not sure if this is true, but some ppl told me that middle of sequence is gone from abstract reasoning after yr 8 entry.
I remember I did this exam in 2022, it's definitely still there. that fucking retarded iq test is total bs i dont know how ppl acually get it

My results weren't too good, but I got top 15% in writing, top 10% in abstract reasoning and middle 50% for maths and reading.
btw for ur first abstract reasoning test what was ur mark, and also do u remember all the types of questions in abstract reasoning like next in sequence etc. and also the 2 writing topics last yr. btw is maths and reading graph heavy

they don't actually give you your exact mark or how many you got correct for hast, they only tell you how well you performed compared to everyone else sitting the test, like the yr 7 selective. There is top 10%, top 15%, middle 50%, bottom 15% and lowest 10%. For yr 8 entry, there were only 3 sections in abstract reasoning with 10 questions each - Next in sequence, middle of sequence, and complete the pattern. You need to be quick with abstract reasoning though, because you can only spend ~1 min per question if you want to get them all done in time. There weren't actually 2 writing prompts, there was only 1, and it was discursive. It was something like "is honesty good or bad?" Reading has a lot of graphs. There were like maps, diagrams and pictures. There were like 2 text extracts and 1 poem which I found the hardest. The questions are super abstract, and you need to answer each one with a clear mind. maths had like 1 or 2 graphs, but other than that, there were long paragraphs with scientific terms.

oh ty, but like in the math section did the scientific terms section give information so you wouldn't ned any prior knowledge?
