I suppose that depends on your definition of cooked - I googled it out of curiosity and they said it means "done and exhausted". I personally take as meaning someone thinking they won't be able to perform up to their desired standard

it's less the hard questions and more the inconsistency of markers imo, "high performing students" sometimes don't even fulfill that prophecy of performing high. even the inconsistency across grades, for example coming first in year 10 vs year 12 should be plenty of proof (whereas the person who comes first in math generally stays first in math)

I agree there could maybe be more sensitivity in who says they're cooked as they could acknowledge that they're doing comparatively well, so I get what you're saying. for example I wouldn't say I was cooked for math. but I feel like it's just a word that's used to express general dissatisfaction - in which case, I would say that my 3U math trial was cooked. I might be using slang wrong but that's my personal take - and this is the 2025 chat after all! it's supposed to be venting for the masses
Yeah I get what u mean but it just makes other people who are doing bad, feel worse. I mean there’s nothing wrong with expressing ur feelings but usually I associate being cooked for when ur actually totally screwed and don’t know anything for the exam. But u can also use it when u just know ur gonna do ‘bad’ for ur standards
