So... I ended up asking my DP about this... she said that it only applies for subjects the school doesn't offer at all.:C

This is just a lie because your DP is lazy. Tafe and SDE don't have any restrictions like this. There was a girl who was quite active on here and conquer in 2022 that did 4u at tafe because her school's class filled up for it, and its very common for students who switch schools in 11-12 when there is full classes/school timetable isnt compatible with student timetable. From my experience, schools tend to only take student concerns seriously when you get parents involved or involve NESA (funny how much more seriously a teacher takes you when they're at risk of getting audited ), so if you're super dead set you should just get mum and dad to send an email to the DP.

Had a talk with my teacher, and she said she would definitely recommend me for biology, but said no to chemistry because I missed out on 3 of the critical thinking questions related to chemistry on our exam. She also said she wouldn't recommend me for physics, despite the fact that we haven't even done any physics tests yet. She's basing this solely on the fact that I missed a critical thinking question, and you'll need critical thinking for physics. Do I still go forth with doing bio, chem, and physics? I know I could've done way better on the test; it was just that I lacked time to practice because I had to go to the hospital, etc. Erm... What do you guys think?

This is like insanely late, but you'll most likely get above 70 bcs atar itself includes the whole age group cohort (even the ppl that dropped out before completing yr12 + those who completed yr12 but didn't apply for an atar). Sooooo, the median atar of students who complete yr12 & are eligible for an atar is recorded at abt 70.23 (2023). So, DWWW Fret not, queen. Put in the extra effort, and you can get well past 70!! Don't undermine ur abilities! Wish uuu da best. <3

i think you’ll be fine, provided you’re willing to put in the effort you can do well and a year 10 test that u didn’t study for really doesn’t reflect how you’ll do in year11/12. however i did 3 sciences in year 11 and i have to say it is super super heavy and you really have to love the subject, i ended up not really liking chem and bio was just okay for me so i dropped them and ended up only doing physics in year 12. theres also something to be said about the variety of subjects you take, it’s sometimes good to have units in other areas like tas so you don’t get bored of science content, but if you really like science that’ll be fine.
ultimately even if you struggle, you can always swap classes / drop classes anyway. so if at the end of year 11 you decide one of the sciences isn’t for you, you can drop one, and if towards the start of year 11 you already hate one of the subjects you can swap into something else. i’d recommend also taking some extension english/math units if you want, because then you can pick extension 2 in those areas and that’ll allow you to drop another class, but you don’t have to at all

Ohhh... I may do this... involving NESA would be funny. I can get someone else to do it for me (people are making petitions haha) So I'll get them to ring up NESA

Ask teachers which they think is best for you and think about the workload, how much you'll actually enjoy it, the odds of regretting the decision, what other subjects you're doing, etc.

how to keep consistent with it for the whole year? I've always just did a bunch of revision the week of tests at most

i stuck to a routine very closely to keep studying consistently. i had a set time i would start studying each day and a set time in which i would finish. i also made sure that i did it every single day (excluding weekends). it gets to the point where its such an ingrained thing that it feels weird when i take breaks.

i had a friend who did both earth and legal. he ended up dropping legal bcuz it was just a ton of content and it was putting stress on him. i think you should choose based on what you have more of an interest in and enjoy, and if you think you can keep up with all the content of it. also i have a friend who did earth and bio - way more content in bio to cover. also its good to keep in mind that with earth there are less online resources as its the less popular subject.

i had a friend who did both earth and legal. he ended up dropping legal bcuz it was just a ton of content and it was putting stress on him. i think you should choose based on what you have more of an interest in and enjoy, and if you think you can keep up with all the content of it. also i have a friend who did earth and bio - way more content in bio to cover. also its good to keep in mind that with earth there are less online resources as its the less popular subject.

also doing earth content helped a bit with other subjects bcuz the content would sometimes overlap, though thats a really specific thing based on the subjects you do.

specifically it helped out a lot with geo bcuz theres a year 12 module on ecosystems. but also with food tech and DT there are some dotpoints that relate to sustainability, and earth knowledge helped w that.
