i still don't get this debate. do i support gays/lesbians getting full recognition, tax benefits and the other legal benefits of being married? yes.

however, i don't support it being called a 'marriage'. the simple fact is that marriage has been the term that has denoted a bond between a man and a woman for thousands of years. as much as i think religious people are bat shit insane, the word marriage has large religious connotations and a lot of tradition to it. if you gave gays/lesbians all of the rights i mentioned above, yet just called it a 'civil union' or whatever, what's the difference? i don't go around and whinge that i can't be classified as a negro, it's because i'm not, i don't fit the definition.

If the name is different then to the stupid bogan cunts out west (lol irony) it will seem like it is different and wrong. It will seem like it is okay to outcast homosexuals that are together in civil union rather than in marriage because they are named differently so it is okay to treat them differently (I live in a family of bogan westies and this is the case). So if homos have any chance of being accept into regular society the name has to be marriage.

- even if they legalise marriage between homosexuals, it doesn't mean Churches have to marry them because Churches can already refuse to marry people. That's why you have to do stupid fuckin counselling and shit if you want to get married in a Catholic church, they have to vet your relationship firs.t
- if that is such a god damn issue for some of you, why not at least give them civil ceremony, so that they are legally married in the eyes of the state, for all intents and purposes.

Basically shit is fucked up when people like you and I can get married multiple times to whomever we want, to some shit cunt we met last week... and that gay people can also do that if they run off and marry the opposite sex, but if they want to legalise their relationship so that they are entitled to the same rights and protections as heteros, they can't... because it offends the delicate sensibilities of some clusterfucking cunt who believes in a moongod.
