rearrange and complete the square
-x = y^2+5y+6
y^2 +5y= -x -6
y^2 +5y + (5/2)^2 = -x -6 + (5/2)^2
(y+(5/2) )^2 = -x + (1/4)
(y+(5/2) )^2 = - (x -(1/4) )
so it is sideways ( from the y^2) , opening to the left ( because we have negative out the front of the bracket on the RHS ) .
