How important are the first assessments? Say you did "ok/fair." Is it still possible to achieve a 98% UAI?
Im guessing you'll really need to do well for the remaining assessment blocks.

To be honest (and much to my surprise and delight) I'm in the opposite situation, where I have actually managed to switch on to hardcore study mode (though obviously I'm currently procrastinating, It has only a minor effect on me now )
Got 2 assessment results back, 1/5 for 4U, 2/10 for MH (2% difference between me and top ) - Considering I was 5/10 for MH in year 11 and 8/12 in MX1, I have pretty much managed to meet my goals (or close enough to em )

Yeah I fucked up every assessment I did. Meh, tragically enough I've lost all motivation to do well in the HSC so I don't care as much as I probably should.
