I'm transition leader at my school rn, so I get to be involved with all the enrollment kind of things to see who's coming into the school new, and we have gotten people still accepting places and like rejecting places now even though offers came out nearly a month ago, so it definitely depends on the school.

I am on reserve Girraween and Penrith, and Penrith is being really difficult in saying they cannot release anything. Girraween said almost the same as you, in that there could be notifications up to the last day of term
I just wanted to know if there are any places, because I have heard that there has been a person overseas almost all year and her place isn’t filled and I wondering if others have transitioned during the year etc
I am just so frustrated on the tight lipped ‘can’t release anything’ ‘we don’t know anything’ stance. It’s unfair being that restrictive because how can people plan anything

5 kids in the other selective class of my school (we have 2 selective classes bc partially selective) are moving to higher ranked selective schools. Man I gotta lock in for next year

heyyy I was rejected by Penrith,, I was in the middle 50% for hast with my highest score being top 15% (writing) and lowest was bottom 15% (abstact reasoning). I was honestly really surprised that I didn't do well for abstract reasoning bc I was mainly studying it before the hast. I moved to my local high school this year (for year 10). Should I reapply for Penrith? what selectives do u recommend? also I do a lot of competitions, and for my naplan I got top for all except math (second highest bit). I was much higher than my school average so I really don't want to stay. Anything more should I focus on if I were to reapply?

You're going to need scores much higher than that for Penrith. Try applying for a lower rank school. If you really want to go to Penrith though (which I personally don't reccomend), put as much time as you can into studying for HAST.

There will probably be a lot of things that they'll assume you know which you might not have been taught in your own school. It will also be difficult to get used to the amount of homework that is expected, you may even get burnt out - Extremely undesireable for your senior years.

You will be fine to do law, do humanities subjects then. Economics is good, I think... Not sure! I'm not into law.

There are a lot - and I mean a lot of things to consider here, although most of them can be subdivided into the following:
What's your report like in terms of grades?
Likewise with extracirriculars?
Are you a legacy student (*parents/relatives went to Baulko or Ruse - although this ain't that important but if you tie with another student its taken into consideration)
What practice resources are you using?

lowkey easiest yr to get into at penrith is year 10 because they take so many more people than the other yrs. even entering into yr 10 is really difficult, like all the transfers in my yr are still really behind the rest of the cohort bc the teachers assume we already have learnt everything they cover. obviously staying at ur old school would suck, but id definitely reccommend trying out for st marys senior, which is easier to get into and caters towards high achieveing students

yeah i got into yr 10 penrith this year. But there is one point of yours I'd like to rectify - most selective schools on the HAST list do make an extra class around Year 9/10, which is why there were way more than just 20-25 spots allocated this year. Sydney Boys High School makes an extra class in Yr 9, although they limit the amount of people who can take the test via disqualification.

I don't think those things matter for the test. I don't need tips for interviews or etc; I just want some for the edutest exam if there are any.

For edutest especially, you want to be doing the practice tests for the years above e.g if ure applying for y8 do the y9 practice tests or even y10. As someone who did the edutest twice for transferring, the vocabulary is inconceivably difficult. The entire english section is so much harder than the practice tests allocated for that grade. However for maths it should be extremely easy unless math is truly your weak point. I would also advise you to read non-fiction books just to enhance your comprehension for the test. Just out of curiosity, what school do you go to?
