Year 11 marks count towards year 12 and hsc? (1 Viewer)

Do the marks you get in year 11 count towards year 12 and the hsc or is it just basically a practice year? also do you get ranked from year 11 for the hsc or do they just rank based off your marks in year 12.

I don't think they do. I think that they are just to see how you would go in the HSC and then they will help you in the areas that you need.

Hey,

No marks or ranks what so ever from Year 11 get counted in Year 12 or your HSC. In Year 12, HSC you get a fresh start, so if you screw up in Year 11, it won't come back to haunt you in Year 12.

Nothing of Year 11 counts whatsoever towards Year 12.

Year 11 is merely just an insight to what Year 12 is like.

Nevertheless, that does not mean that you just relax and sit back all year for Year 11.

Anyways, like the other thread said and like the other people said here, there is no marks in Year 11 Prelim that is dragged onto Year 12 HSC. It is just the content that you are assessed on in Year 11 will partly be in the HSC, confirmed or not it is around 30%.
As a result, you should focus 30% of your brain energy in Prelim and 100% on HSC. (Only a joke, don't do this!)

And for the rankings, yes. The school will assess your ranks in Prelim to set you in classes for HSC. Depending on your results and stuff, the teachers and school will put you each class from best to least best...
So focus on getting good marks now, and you won't regret not doing it as you might be shifted to a bad class with very distracting people in it.

Not really, for maths they can assess 20% of prelim course directly, for other HSC courses, they can not test anything from year 11 directly, but stuff you learnt in year 11, which helps you in year 12 can be tested with a mixed question asking you to recall year 11 info and use it to answer year 12 stuff.

We just get the same class for the 2 years. Also all classes are of equal value, no one class is "better" or "worse" than another.

and you won't regret not doing it as you might be shifted to a bad class with very distracting people in it.

Try in year 11 although it may not count directly towards your ATAR or HSC results- it allows you to establish a routine and allows you to work out organisation and study methods. If you're interested in scholarships, many institutions take Prelim results and reports into account, so that is definitely an incentive to work hard. Saying that, don't burn yourself out in year 11 to the point you're exhausted for year 12.

in some case, u still have to do good to achieve ur goal. Eg. if u wants to do 4U maths in year 12, u have to good in both 2U maths and 3U maths in year 11 to show to the teacher that u are capable to do 4U.
