Ahh Steinbeck - I was going to use 'Of mice and men' for my english assessment - but didn't have enough time to read/analyse the book.
Should've read it - it's an awesome book. =)

Worst:
Emma by Jane Austen
I wanted to burn the thing half way through.
I didn't end up finishing it! (thats how much I hated it, never done anything that lazy before) I settled for summary after summary, reading quotes and so many practise essays

Best (All from Year 10) :
Tomorrow When the War Began
Fireshadow

Worst: The House Guest *HEADDESK*
Best: Possibly Lord of the Flies? I thought it would be overrated and crappy, but I found it to be an awesome book :D

Haven't really had a 'best' novel. They've all been pretty average. Our school never chooses really cool books, like Animal Farm or Lord of the Flies or whatever. Just random coming of age stories about teenage issues...
The worst, as in the most boring, was Falling Leaves (the 'adult' version of Chinese Cinderella). Ack it was boring. The only set book I just couldn't finish.
The worst in terms of the most poorly written was City of the Beasts in year 10. My friends and I wrote a letter of complaint to the teacher about how awful her writing was. I still shudder to remember it...

Worst:
- And the Big Men Fly (in yr11)
- The Club (in yr12)

Wouldn't catergorise them as novels as they are plays but they were still bloody boring to read.

Best:
- Briar Rose by Jane Yolen (yr12)
- Looking for Alibrandi by Melina Marchetta (yr10)
- Harry Potter & the Philosophers Stone (yr5)
- Macbeth (yr10)

Best Novel in school- Goodnight Mister Tom, such an amazing book, read it in junior high sometime.

Worst Novel in school- i'm sure quite a few other past hsc students do agree that Emma by Jane Austen fits that title...
