It's one magazine, though it seems fairly decent. Im surprised Tasmania ranked so far ahead of the Reef islands in QLD (though of course we all know that Tasmania IS better :p)

that is soo true ... my friends or relatives come to visit from other states and/or countries, and they go on about how sydney is so "awesome" ... one cousin actually commended the "punctuality" of our public transport system ... i was like "WTF" ... :p

Really? I love Sydney, there's not many other places in this world I want to live. Sue me for thinking the city is gorgeous.

Hehe funny stuff.

The public transport system is fine given its history, and steps are being taken to improve the network, and we have no real problem with water, it is just that we all use far too much in a nation where rainfall events are far from reliable.

But, what do we mean by Sydney? Is it the CBD, the 'harbour city', or the city of sprawling suburbs (among others)?

You guys don't appreciate what you have in Sydney... beautiful beaches, landmarks, a city, lots of shops, you actually have a public transport system, and you have tons of water compared to us country people.... maybe that's why you don't see Sydney as being that good, because you haven't lived anywhere else.

I have been to few cities in the world, but every time my train passes through circular quay, Sydney Harbour looks more and more beautiful to me.

! I think the same thing!! My favourite thing, despite the fact I'm not a morning person, is at 7.30 in the morning the harbour and the quay looks great. And at night.

Oh and at night, between Kings Cross & Martin Place on the train, the back of the cathedral is lit up and Centrepoint looks huge, everything is just glittering. I love it.

Until you've been/lived elsewhere you're in no position to judge. Everything is relative you take things for granted when you have them every day and it's much easier to point the finger than appreciate the good things you have. As far as CITIES go Sydney has got a lot going for it.
