word delete problem (1 Viewer)

Let's say I want to delete a paragraph in M$ word. I used to be able to highlight the paragraph and hit "backspace".

But now that doesn't work. I can highlight the paragraph and when I hit backspace, the paragraph remains there un-highlighted.

I have discovered a way it can work.. highlight paragraph then hit delete instead of backspace... however I prefer doing it with the backspace. Any suggestions?

Click tools -> then options -> edit, then check 'Typing Replaces Selection'.
