Yes it does. See info on "Uniwide" on the DIS><Connect website: www.disconnect.unsw.edu.au

Also, the CSE buildings have their own network, but you must belong to a CSE course to use it ...

Oh, what about Macquarie UNi ?
Do they have wireless available for students ??

For UNSW/MAC , does the uni charge for the use of wireless ?

I have no idea about MAC (might want to try and post in there), but UNSW's Uniwide does cost you.

$1 to login (charged max once per day), then 10c per MB downloaded outside of UNSW. There's discount rates for sites within Australia, such as AARNet. If you do a CSE course however, like comp 1A, CSE gives you funds in your UDUS account which you can use for Uniwide.

CSE wireless is free, but any data used comes out of your regular CSE account IP usage.

Uniwide is usable only on campus, basically at all the lecture theatres and food outlets.

When I said 10c per MB downloaded outside of UNSW, I meant if you downloaded from a website outside of the unsw.edu.au domain you get charged 10c/MB :)

Centrino is just the name tag given to a laptop when it uses a Pentium4-M processor, the Intel 855PM chipset, and wireless card. The combination tends to give longer battery life.

There is no "Centrino wireless". Centrino is just a name given when they put those things together. A laptop can have wireless without the other parts to Centrino.

keep on topic! :p there are a few threads devoted to wireless in the IT section

that said, I think sunny's done a good job explaining wireless - the other way to put it is that 'anything from unsw.edu.au' is free

I blame it on UNSW, with whole online enrollment, high tech student IDs, and bus stop webcams.

HAHA UNSW is lotech to UTS. Sure, you have a dodgy online enrolment system and equal (if slightly prettier ID cards) but one thing you'll never beat is out WiFi. All students and staff have unlimited network access, with no connection or download charges. AND we pay less in yearly fees to! :D?

So yeah, I'm geekier than you. But my laptop does more for free. ;)
