Will we be asked to use formulas which are not on the forumal sheet?

for example, i could find 5 formulas from the textbook that were not on the forumula sheet for module 1 alone...

will we need to use any of these formulas?

No; you are not tested on your ability to memorise equations. However, you would be expected to know how to manipulate equations.

Yeah, it would sort of defeat the purpose of the Formula sheet if you were tested on formulas that weren't included on it.

i think u do need to know the more basic fundamental equations u learnt from yr 11. examples would be c = f(l), (l)=lamda (sp?), V=IR, v = s/t...

You may be asked (directly or indirectly) to derive other formulas (not on the data sheet) by using the given formulae on the data sheet. This requires an understanding of physical concepts to know which formulae to apply and some mathematical skill to manipulate the formulae.
For example, if you are given a question asking you to find say the radius of a certain object orbiting a larger object. You are given the period of this object plus the period and radius of another object orbiting the same larger object.
On the formulae sheet Kepler's formula is r³/T² = GM/4π²
When you substitute the values into the formula for each object, you should realise that GM/4π² is the same constant for both objects and a value for M is not required.
Thus, you can equate the two objects by this constant. (i.e. r1³/T1² = r2³/T2²)

They also may provide formulas in the questions and ask you to apply them.
You may use other valid formulas if you remember them.

There are some formulas not on the formula sheet that are either derived, eg. W=qED

Or there are equations based on definitions in dot points. EG Formula for induced EMF=change in flux/time taken

also it'd probably be handy to memorise the formula and the method to deriving the formula for escape velocity and orbital veloicty seeing as neigther are on the formula sheet and both occur fairly regularly....eg. 2003 hsc there was a question requiring you to derive escape velocity formula and find the escape veloicty of an object in orbit, given the orbital velocity.
its easy enough, just need to equate momentum and newtons law of gravitation or watever its called...
