Why does society put so much emphasis on outdoing everyone else in every field?
If you dont achieve then what do you have to show for yourself?

Its just how it is, lame but true

i don't think they do. its only a few people (like some parents) that put so much emphasis on it, in my opinion.

why is the emphasis on doing well in the hsc greater than the emphasis on tafe/uni results.

i LOLed. the hsc is what makes life a lot simpler. you do well in the hsc and get a really high uai. you have the pick of pretty much every degree in the state bar a few which are assessed on other values.

therefore you do not need to transfer into the course you really want and you can also choose not to use your uai and go to tafe and do something practically or altogether go into the workforce.

it just provides you with an extra option.

they dont...its just that u think they do.
so your telling me that the person who does shit in the hsc and gets a shit uai... years down the track realised he actually wanted to study something at university but had a uai below 30. they have alternatives which will require extra time to be wasted rather than a solid uai which takes them to their desired degree.

or i may have misinterpreted your comment. what do you think?

and dont think they havent been through that hsc garbage whereas youve barely placed your feet into year 12. ive seen and heard it while its happened or happening.
