That girl in green/black is even scarrier than shattermenow's.

My eyes hurt after trying to read the text - I have ClearType enabled, but I think it's a bold font, with doubled thicknesses (widths).

Heh, that's a guy. I guess the gender was lost when I edited the picture.

The font's slightly blurred because quality was lost when I rotated it, but it's still legible... *shrugs*
How's your vision been lately? LOL nuh it might be the screen resolution. It's not a big deal... not being able to read it just adds to the "grunge effect"

Had my eyes tested three weeks ago, no change in strength.
Bought new glasses on the 21st November.

My screen resolution is 1280*1024, ClearType enabled (which doubles the width of pixels/text) and I'm on a 17" LCD. This may explain it, but everything has been crisp, maybe it's your rotations and font selection.

Don't worry, I can still make it out. My eyes haven't deteriorated even after 8 years (after my first pair of glasses). For the past decade or so I've been putting my eyes under extreme circumstances, with CRT monitors and excess usage (hours upon hours), but I've replaced all my monitors but one with 17" LCDs, looking at getting a 19" LCD Samsung in the near future for my other PC. :)

...or the PowerBook/iBook for university (which will take forever to save for).

Heh well I haven't tested it in 1280 x 1024, because so few people use it.
I use 1024 x 768 and it works fine in that. And I checked it in 600 x 800, and it was ok... kind of huge but ok I guess.
LOL

17 inches?! *jealous*

True, most 15" CRT (flat or curved) monitors will only operate at 1024*768. Depending on the video card and hardware (monitor most importantly) you can 'up the ante' but I don't recommend doing this. For larger monitors however, up to 1600*1200 is not uncommon.

It was my 18th birthday present from mum, two 17" LCDs. If I wanted to really push it, perhaps even three 15" LCDs but 15" is fairly common these days, and 19" is for "high-end" users, with 17" eventually, if not already, becoming the standard dimension/size for LCDs (for CRTs, most would be on 17" by now, seeing as though they are dirt cheap for a flat panel 17" CRT) :)

Hey Huy, you might know this:

If I get a 15" LCD (rather than a cheaper 17" one) and it has a standard res of 1024x768, can I still run it at at least 1152x864?

Maybe I should just spend more for 17"...

heh nah you can't LCD's resolutions when they say it only supports 1024, it's only 1024 it's locked in at that, i got a 15" can't make it go any higher, so you're better off investing in a 17"

In some cases, yep. Except it will work like a tile based game and get you to scroll around :)

LCDs have a physical limit as to how many pixels are on it, and the advertised resolution is usually that.

(Sorry I've been away for the past 12 hrs)
No, 15" have a native resolution of 1024*768. You would be better off buying a cheaper 17" or saving a little bit extra for the higher resolution (My native resolution on the 17" is 1280*1024).

The fonts are all weird, bubz.

Maybe it's my resolution, but I have to highlight the text for it to be legible.

800600 is just tiny. I pity myself for all those years on Win 95 with it's lame 640480 resolution...[shudder]

I want a CRT with 16001200, but that's not going to happen.
