Hey all - just interested to see who's applying for a law transfer, what UAI they got and what marks they got this year.

Good luck to everyone.

hey - i also do Media/Comm! You're UAI is really close, eh?
I'm applying to transfer as well
UAI - 98.35
Average this year - 80

They say on the website that you should only apply with >95 and a distinction average - how were ur marks this year?
Do you think that they'll take into account that our course has a pretty high uai?

I think i'm going to be obsessing over thisuntil we find out - it's in January, right?

:O Creepy

I have a straight distinction average - from everything I've heard they don't actually consider marks persay - just your grade average.

And yeah, I'm already obsessing and i've had my marks for less than 24 hours :p

I think its January 19th or 18th or something.

Umm yeah, I'll say I'm transferring just to freak out Jester.

Except if I get offered it I won't take it because MQ law doesn't involve work (much) :)

In other news, got an email from the admissions dude at Usyd.

Thank you for your message.

Based on the standard required for the Combined Law intake in January 2005, you should be 'very competitive' if you achieve a GPA of 6.0 or better. Of course, the actual standard for 2006 is set at the time the UAC Main Round offers are made. However, history suggests that you should be quite confident of receiving an offer if your results are as you predict.

Please let me know if you have further questions at this stage.

hi chris! *waves*
wow, that email sounds very promising... well done :D!

for relevance,
uai: 99.55
gpa: 5.875 (not quite a distinction average.... but i hope it'll do. my wam is 77.5 haha)

like the rest of you, i've been obsessing over it all. it's so stressful

x

Heya!! *Waves Back*
The email sounds goodish... still slightly unnerving

Given your significantly higher UAI i'd say your in. But i'd say we're all in for a stressful month and a bit...

Hey just wondering about the media and communication transferees - I thought Usyd doesnt have a combined m+c/law course? Or are you guys just gonna trasnfer into Arts/Law then? What happens to your media unit then? Is it still credited?

Yeah, no media and comm/law course - we have to transfer into arts or economics etc. Arts is our best bet because we can get credit for everything we've done so far. The media units don't count as credit for a major - just "general" credit towards our degree and we can't continue to do media units (as if i would want to anyway :p!).

Personally, i'm going to transfer into economics and social sciences/law because all of the non-media units i've done have been economics or government or business law.

You should be pretty confident with a 99+ UAI and a GPA close to 6.0
But yes, anything could happen
