Hello !!!! well, i'm doing a task about a subculture here in australia for my Society and Culture and yeah, we were ask to make surveys from a teenager's point of view . I was thinking of this survery here since a lot of people spend time here...so if you guys don't mind filling out my survey...( attempts to flash a verycheeeesy grin plus the blinking eyes*)
a mini background info. ( for those who are clueless about this)
i have chosen to do is the Indie culture/scene(not the indian culture....it's got something to do with people who makes and sells their music on their own obsure ways(music that's not in the top 40 hitlist -think underground music!)
they like to hang out in cafes or some small bookshops particularly in the city , talking about poetry and playing their music) oh and they HATE THE MAINSTREAM MUSIC and culture as well (sarah blasko?)You know that kind of people who chills out in those underground cafes', listening to those bands we've never heard of..they also like to start trends. Individuality is the main theme of being an indie!!
i was gonna do the emo culture or the gay/lesbian one but my friends already chose it!!!( grrrr..) so yeah..
1. Do you know that a subculture called indie exists?(type the letter of ur choice)
a. YES b. what? c. i know them but i never knew they're called indie
2. Do you listen to bands/music classified as indie?
a.YES, i do b. No, top 40 music for me c. mixed variety !! d. not sure
3. How much do you know of your local bands in your local suburb/city?
a. i often go to their live sessions (i'm a fan)
b.I never knew we have one in our town
c.Oh i know them, they usually advertise themselves on the local paper but i dont care.
4. do you follow trends or start trends?
a. follow b. i start! c. neither..i'm in between
5. do you really like to listen to a kind of music because ..
a. you're friends are currently liking it and you don't want to be left out!
b.its because the music actually relates your emotions and moods
c. it's catchy !!!
6. do you look down on people who do not follow the fashion trends , listens to obscure music or act differently amongst the crowd?
a. always b. sometimes c.hmmmm...not really! individualism rocks!
7. Do you have your own band
a. duh! b. not yet...but i'm planning c. not interested
8. Are you tired of listening to mainstream music?
a. yes..it frustrates me b. sometimes, but i have faith in the music industry c. no....if it is popular- then it's good
9. Can you name some indie bands/music?
a. yes of course!!
b. sorry, i don't know any of them
c. hmm..let's see.....my chemical romance?
10. if you know some indie people, what do you think of them?
a. pathetic, they're just wasting away their lives doing something not really rewarding
b. snobbish, they think they're all that smart and talented(as if !)
c. they are misunderstood. they are very terrific and lovely people really!
