Too be honest I thought it was by Bernard, and am feeling a little stupid that I didn't pick up on it being John. Regardless, I never identified who said it, I just refered to it in my essay. And I did read the book. I prepared by extracting techniques out of the movie and book, rather than just quotes, to prove my generic thesis. I think identifying who the quote is by isn't necessarily the point of the essay is it? It's to explore humanities connection with nature etc. If they take 2 points off for not identifying who the quote is by, then they should have said that in the question. It was a starting point, that's all. The actual question is the most important part.
