From what I've seen here and when this site was posted on other forums, the compass seems to have a bit of a bias toward the left compared to everyone's opinions of where they are.

No, that's impossible.
The main things that have changed since before are simply my views towards the free-market, corporations responsibilities etc. It's quite possible that I just check 'Strongly Disagree / Agree' more often than you I guess.

the compass is not "biased"

i think the problem is people consider themselves more centrist or right, whereas their actual beliefs are not

i guess the communists in the education system have forced a bit of humanity and social justice into you all

you would apply those general principles to the specific situations anyway, so why does it matter?

Nah I don't think that's true.
When you ask people about their general principles, they are usually more idealistic and nice. But when it comes to these principles being applied to a real life situation, their priorities change.

More left than i thought...

Economic Left/Right: -5.25
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.56

What it failed to ask was about integration of certain religions and nationalities into Australian society. Page 6 was definately yes i support porn, gay marriage and pro-choice all the way.

what do religion and nationality have to do with your economic views or views on the role of the state in society

there is no racism plane

the reason they ask about porn, gay marriage and abortion are to see how greatly you value individual liberty and restrict the social aspect of the state

'Labor'

Try not to pretend you really would consider Labor. You go to a north shore private finishing school for girls. I'm sure if you opened you eyes you would realise that both parties have policies. Suggesting that one party has no policies when their website is a few clicks away is a bit rich for someone with access to the SMH and a million political websites.

Perhaps it is only true of the One nation parties who 'policy page' 'under construction'...

Labor do have policies, just they tend to either be "I agree with that guy *Kim points to Johnny" or drowned out in the media by the Liberal's policies, with a few exceptions of course.
