Oh... That's quite surprising. If he got 80's/90's for everything, his UAI must not be that low. I guess he did 'low-scaling' subjects.

Are there actually people who get that low. So can someone get a UAI of 1?
yes people do get that low. UAI is a rank not a mark. of course someone has to come last. but then again the majority of the people that do get less than 30 are made up by those that left high school/ those that are not eligable for a UAI but not necessarily all.

if you get a UAI < or = to 30 you get a [-] as an indicator that you got < or = 30 as your UAI.

apparently im sposed to be getting in 90's
according to teachers/parents etc
but i really dnt have the motivation nor the desire to put in such a work load
when for my whole schooling life i have cruised and always come out on top haha
so 85 is what im aiming for to get into my course at ANU
:D

wow. those uai's are insane!!! not in a way that you guys cant get that high but its like wow!. its such a huge reality shock to realise what i'm up against this year!! i come from a school that doesn't really excel much. the quota im acutally up against is huge by comparison.
i would be so happy with anything above 85!

best of luck.
hang in there.

lyounamu i think you are underestimating 'low scaling subjects'. 'low scaling subjects' although as the name says it scales lower, it isn't that far off from all the other subjects (probably execpt for ext 2 maths) as the name implies it to be. also even with low scaling subjects i highly doubt that person could have gotten a UAI of 64 with band 5's and 6's. i know because i know a person who did all low scaling subjects. got band 4's 5's and 6's and still got a higher UAI than that.

anywho having said that approx. 50 % of people doing the HSC will get a UAI of 65 or lower. it all depends on the year and the amount of competition.

expectations are not necessarily realistic....even if people think they are.

furthermore, approx 60,000 students sit the hsc every year.

there are 212 votes in this poll.

that's not very indicative of the 'competition you're up against'

Realistically those 6o,ooo odd students are not all considered as competition.

Maybe only 2000 or less is seen as a real threat.
