What tafe should i study HSC at? (1 Viewer)

Hey there, I'd like to know peoples opinions based on word of mouth/ past experience of the best places to study hsc in terms of learning environment and ethnicity(high asian population, being one im more comfortable socialising with them, but diversity is great aswell which my last tafe lacked). I know it all comes down to putting in your own effort and there will always be bludgers and people who don't want to be there no matter which tafe i choose, but the last tafe i attended mainly consisted of bludgers which did interfere with my studying and made me avoid socialising with them so to not fall into the same category.

Therefore i don't mind the travelling distance (bankstown - hint). So far i'm thinking ultimo which is quite far but as i said i don't care about distance and it has more resources around.

I haven't studied HSC at tafe but I would expect lots of aussies at ultimo with a few asians/other natios.

Unless the kids at Bankstown aren't affecting you that much (e.g. disrupting everyone in class by talking loudly, playing around in class etc) then just stay at Bankstown.

I initially studied at Ultimo then transferred to Bankstown but they are both decent tafes (I didn't study HSC @ tafe tho). IMO Bankstown had more friendly, approachable and professional teachers compared to Ultimo. There were a lot of arrogant + distant teachers, but not all of them were like that.

You should mind about travel distance because you'll have to get up extra early to go to Ultimo + won't have as much time to study/socialise on campus compared to studying at Bankstown. The fact is, once you complete tafe you will probably never see anyone from there again.

If it wasn't such a big deal or tolerable I wouldn't go out of my way to travel that far, but yeah it was pretty bad in my opinion, the students were overall friendly but most were going there to either socialise, sell/buy -things-, or to get youth allowance lol. Good point about the teachers, some were very friendly and willing to help me out a lot so i guess i'll have to take that into consideration, but i think having students who want to help and support eachother as well as to compete to achieve high marks would benefit me greatly. I will be travelling with friends that may also do my course + ones doing other courses at ultimo and i hang out at the city much more than bankstown haha.

Anything else you can tell me? relevant to studying hsc there

I did 6 months of TPC at Ultimo this year. It's very big, thus there is greater diversity in the student populous, however that also means that it is difficult to get talking to the teachers like you would at a smaller campus. I say go for it.

I enrolled in tge HSC at North Syd today, there actually seemes to be quite a mix of students enrolling there including Asians.

Ultimo TAFE is quite good, but too bad they're no longer offering the HSC starting from 2014.
Why don't you try North Sydney or Bradfield?
Or if you don't mind distance learning, OTEN is quite good as well.
