Hello
The subjects that I will be studying in Yr 11 are:
English
Mathematics
Maths Ext 1
Physics
Economics
History and
financials.
A girl who achieved a perfect ATAR once said that it was simply a matter of finding out what the markers want and then writing that. I am trying to find out what the markers want for these subjects. Any tips??

For Preliminary that means finding out what your teachers at school want. They will also teach you how to answer the questions for the HSC.

It will be difficult to determine what they want for the preliminary course

As for Year 12 though you can always refer to the board of studies website and access the notes from the marking centre for each subjects HSC past papers. They provide brief (sometimes detailed) responses regarding what students did well, failed to do and what was expected from them.

Essentially to learn to how to answer the question and nothing but the question, it is not about putting things relevant to the question, it is about knowing what things are DIRECTLY RELEVANT and what things are only remotely so and only put those that are DIRECTLY RELEVANT in your answer. It takes a bit of time and actual practice to find out.

For history:
show your depth of information by reading widely, different historians, sources and having detailed knowledge of the content. You need structure also in your essays

maybe check the markers notes on past HSC papers, they write common mistakes made, and what the 'perfect' 100% worthy answer(s) should be.
