How come Science, Maths, Australian History Geography Civics and Citizenship and Computing is out of 100 marks, but English is only 90????

I thought that was a bit weird because then that means that we don't get as many questions for English to show our potential...

and if it's out of 90, that also means that to get a higher raw mark, we need can only loose a few marks :(

Yep out of 90, we can only get 9 wrong to get a raw percentage of 90%.

Whereas out of 100, we can get one more wrong.

English is an idiot, expect the same in Prelim and HSC; with English being the only subject out of 105.

It is fair, the School certificate is not designed to challenge students, its merely a baseline of achievement. The whole thing has to be dumbed down, in order to accommodate the entire state, and yet, NSW has the toughest testing in the country, so think yourself lucky. Math is out of 85, is it not?

Well.. if they were to make it out of 100, they would have to add 10 marks somewhere.. so another 10 m/p or 10 more marks of short answers.. or another extended response or something..

I think the way they've set out the exam is very fair.. Like if we had to write another extended response, most people wouldn't finish the exam.

Victoria has two actually.

And bullshit with the "toughest testing in the country," most other states don't HAVE an equivalent of the SC, so what the hell is that compared with? In Victoria, Year 10 was just another high school year for me.

OMFG! FOOL!

Exactly, while you might have a year test for the subjects, we have all that, AND three days of external testing, so we do more than you, and our syllabus is far more extensive than other states, thats why New South Wales produces the best results. I was also refering to stage 6/years 11 and 12, which in NSW also has one of the highest turn out rate, i.e. less people leave school after year 10.

toughest competition, okay. wouldn't go as far as 'toughest testing' since in the end it's very subjective
