Does anyone know any other ways which designers can protect their intellectual property besides the use of:

• patents
• copyright

Those are the main two, talk about them in your exam if the ask you. But to answer your question yes there a few more ways:

Firstly it is good design practice to keep your design process in secret from competitors. By this i mean storing trade secrets and designs safely, so that competitors do not have to access them. Designers can also secure their designs by the use of Trademarks, Circuit Layout Rights and Plant breeders rights
