tried this on the main round and it worked (i didnt get in)
so i switched my preferences around and entered all the 9 preferences just so i can get in to UNSW for the late round. As of 11 pm today (01/29), its not letting me in. My ATAR is 90 and Ive applied for courses that have a cut off of 84, 87 and 88. I can't get in. (those subjects still have vacancies)

Anyone tried this for the late rounds? Any success?

Those cut-offs were for the Main Round, and do not affect the Late Round offers. The Late and Final Round offers are also made on supply and demand. Those courses may not have many spots left, so for example, if there were 5 spots left, and 5 other students had ATARs of 99, 98, 97, 96 and 95, then 95 would become the published cut-off. You are not competing for a cut-off mark/rank, you are competing for a position.

You should just wait until the official release of offers.

Any people applying for tomorrow's late round, is this working for you?

I've applied for a couple of random courses (education lol) to see if I'll make an offer or not.

I just realised something.

Don't do this because you are raising the cut-off for no reason at all and you could actually be preventing someone from entering the course they want.

Ah I see. Education this year at UNSW seems to be quite unpopular probably due to the lack of jobs after graduation. I've believe I've applied for B.Economics/B.Education which is significantly higher in the cutoff than my current course by around 9. There were only 4 people admitted into this course this year.

Note: I wasn't given an offer for B.Sc/B.Arts (1st preference) at USYD which the cutoff is a lot lower with Vs still. I've applied as a non-school leaver for UAC (HSC 2012)

I'm keen to see what the outcomes are for tonight. Applied for B.Eco/B.Edu, B.Comm/B.Edu, B.CompSci, B.Eng at UNSW - all higher than my course (84 ATAR).

Also applied for a couple of courses at Sydney.

Doubt I'll be given an offer to any of these.

Yes,but offers can still be made if there are no vacancies listed on the cut off sheet. However, this is more common with the less popular courses.

B.Economics/B.Education & B.Commerce/B.Education are independent courses and belongs to FASS, not ASB. The cutoff is still constrained to the regular entry score of 93 and 96.3 respectively.

That being said, since B.Eco/B.Edu only admitted 4 people in the main rounds, I'll give it a try. I'll probably not take it still after a long decision for this past week.

I got an offer for UTS Bus/Law but i'm keeping my main rd offer of UNSW Comm/Law (obviously).

I got offered (today's round) B.Engineering combined with Comp Sci...at UNSW..I decided to keep my original offer which is Comp Sci at UNSW....
I haven't done physics at all in high school..so I'm planning to take a physics elective semester 2 this year..and might transfer into a combined if I wanted to (engineering combined with comp sci?).

Mine was filled because the course has less than 30 people capacity. The cut-off this year decreased though by quite a bit.

I got offered (today's round) B.Engineering combined with Comp Sci...at UNSW..I decided to keep my original offer which is Comp Sci at UNSW....
I haven't done physics at all in high school..so I'm planning to take a physics elective semester 2 this year..and might transfer into a combined if I wanted to (engineering combined with comp sci?).

If you want to do engineering, then you could start now. It is much easier to drop a course than it is to pick it up.

If you are going to do PHYS1231 or PHYS1241 in second semester, then you are basically doing the physics components for engineering. The rest of the stuff in engineering is dependent on the strand. I suggest you look very carefully over the net few days at the handbook and make a decision based on what you want to do most.
