As no one has responded in my previous thread, perhaps some one can detail how WAMs are calculated into ATARs ? Is there a table some where that indicates how this is done?

For instance my WAM is 79.83, what would the ATAR equivalent be?

Cheers

I doubt there is such a thing, but if there is, that would be ridiculous since a WAM doesn't take into account the relative difficulty of the subject compared to others, and some course WAMs are allocated based on a certain percentage of students receiving HD, D etc. It might be more difficult to achieve a certain grade on one subject and it might be easier in another, yet on face value, a mark of say 80 is the same.

As far as I know, D/6.0 GPA = 96, HD/7.0 GPA = 99.95.

From personal experience I'd say for my university, course and units:

WAM - ATAR
70 - 75 ~90
75 - 80 ~94
80 - 85 ~97
85 99
90 99.75
92 + 99.95

Of course, this is completely inaccurate for a lot of reasons and only really reflects the effort required to obtain the marks (if that).
