AFAIK you can't actually buy a laptop anymore with XP preloaded on it. I know Microsoft aren't actively supporting XP anymore, which is a dirty tactic to force people with less technical skills to upgrade to Vista.
Anyone know if this is correct?

i bought a dell about a month ago, and i thought i saw the 'build with xp' logo on the website. I looked at the costs, and they're actually charging more for xp, and less for vista.

if you are going to get vista i would say get 2GB of RAM
(at least 2gb of ram)

I reckon just get 4 and let that be that. Ram isn't *that* expensive and its just easier to max it now, rather than upgrading later. I went with 4.

However ive seen my mate run a 2.3ghz, 3 hard disks (including a e-sata) ,30" lcd screen and external soundcard on a 2GB ram laptop on vista with no problems. :D

For the record, im running - 2.5Ghz, 4GB ram, 320GB, 256 Nivedia and havent has any major problems.

anyone know if they are bringing out 07 frontpage?

most printers are supported by vista

im running Vista Home Premium SP1 with 1 Gb ram  CoreDuo 2 ghz on an Aspire laptop.. runs pretty smooth but def. upgrade the ram to 2Gb

Vista is shit, but XP isn't really a choice unless you buy it separately and install it yourself.

Office 07 Works on XP

Id get XP on a Laptop because of Vistas drain on hardware, not that Vista is THAT bad, they updated it with a service pack and now it seems to be alright.
