Hey all,

I've been a bit confused on how internal and external marks work so I thought to ask around hoping someone would understand better than me.

From my understanding, if I ranked 5th internally and get the 2nd highest mark externally, then my HSC mark would be the average of the 2nd highest external mark and the 5th highest external mark.

If I'm wrong could someone please correct me?

Thanks all.

No, youll take the 4th mark avg of his and your own, if that person is retarded, you're screwed.

i think this is what it's supposed to be, or that the person in the class who's coming 2nd internally gets the 2nd highest external mark which is so rigged....
i did an accelerated subject last year, i was coming 6/14. it said my 'assessment mark' was a 90 (even tho it was like an 85) and my 'exam mark' was a 92, however, the kid who came 4th had an assessment mark of 93 and an exam mark of 88, and the one coming 5th had an assessment mark of 90 and an exam mark of 91. In the end, we all ended up getting 91 overall, so I don't really know how much I can vouch for that lol

it's not necessarily the 5th highest mark, since nest considers the relative gaps in between students, so if you were to get the 2nd highest in the external your external HSC mark would be the mark you got, but your internal would be based upon the rest of your cohort and the relative gaps they have in the externals.

So what would the final HSC mark be the average of? In this same case, would it be 4th highest external mark and the 2nd highest external mark?
