I was just wondering whether it's possible to transfer from UTS electrical engineering to UNSW or USyd electrical engineering. I hear the subjects at uts arent as indepth as the ones at UNSW or USyd which are more akin to those in the UWS electrical engineering degree. Will I be exempted from all the subjects I complete at UTS if I wanted to transfer to UNSW or USyd? UWS is too far :( . Thankyou for any advice.

yes it is possible. but if your going to transfer because you "hear" stuff is outright stupid.

far as i am aware UNSW has a drop out rate of 85% +. it is much more theory based course than UTS.

UTS is, as you may be aware more forcused in the industry side. i doupt drop out rates are as high as UNSW.

if you ask me, you should stick to UTS. you get the 1 year intern and its payed, where as UNSW itslike 3 months.

if i was you i would only trasfer if UNSW/USYD was easier to get to. if not, i would stay at UTS.

Do you know whether they would give you credit for the subjects you've done? So you didn't end up transfering?

Ye u would get credit from subjects, but different unis have different sort of subjects. I reckon you would easily get credit on maths subjects, physics etc

I really don't want to do a years work experience. Engineers are in high demand. I may as well finish my degree and then work. The three months compulsory work exp will give me a decent taste of the field. Yah? Yah.

summary :

If you want it the easy way go UTS.

If you like theory go UNSW/USYD

Yeah well I will so how I go with the easy way. I do like theory. Maby i'm too stupid to be succesful at USyd engineering though. I just was uneasy about whether Usyd would accept the UTS subjects.

How many times have you failed CA?

Is that why you want to transfer out?

What again another pile of of shit,

USYD electrical is actually alot easier than UTS electrical

The reason why USYD electrical is easier because it doesnt have people like Gerrad having people at the expectation of his Cambridge Degree, Masters & PhD

Your nuts if your thinking of UNSW, jame ruse students even dont make it tho that degree.

Most UTSERS that give up electrical go to USYD

Like i know 2 mates who failed CA twice, went to USYD and got a D overthere for USYD CA

No I haven't actually done circuit anaylisis yet. I've heard it's crazy though. I'm just trying to skip the work exp part. Why is unsw so crazy in hardness? And Usyd is easier than uts? Maby Usyd is for me then :D . Any examples of why unsw is suicide apart from the dropout rates? Although that is obviously a good indicator. Cheers for the advice.

because UNSW doesn't care whether their students drop-out, they just teach the material in a more difficult matter and let the students have at it, they aren't like UTS who pretend to care so that they can get the most money from them.

UTS babysits you like tafe and Highschool does, UNSW and Usyd is more the pure univeristy experience.

self learning where if you study hard you get the results, if you dont u fail like shit.

UTS even if you dont study hard, you still pass, doesnt reward high acheivers who work hard throughout the year.

i particularly hate lecturers in the final lecture, basically tells everyone in the calss whats going to be in the final exam. really fucks people who have been studying from day dot.

it depends on the subjects i guess,

my friend who did electrical at USYD was excepted from doing CA at UTS..
also she stated that the subjects were alot more easier?!

UNSW Electrical Engineering is pretty crazy!

my advice to you is to contact one of the universities and send them a query! they'll probably give you a more direct answer.

Hmm I know a guy who transferred from uws in first year into session 2 and he didn't get any exemption. Ask the uni about 3rd year subs though, you are going into third year right?

i am a student in engineering UNSW. The exact procedure is very hard to explain within the scope of economic procedure. Although transferring to UNSW may yield lower short term variable costs, it may be problematic due to the "Social effect" , which entails that engineers are unable to socialise properly and affect the world with their non-Physics background. My suggestion is to transfer to Harvard as I hear they allow backdoor entry if undergraduates have a minimum of pass average. After completing the engineering at harvard, you can go to UNSW engineering to widen your knowledge on engineering.

Ahahaha. I agree with Potential100UAI. What he says is well known fact throughout the engineering community.
