Urgent Help!! (1 Viewer)

Hi guys, im kinda newbie in these forums, but i really need advice because i am really confused at the moment. Well, i got the marks that will get me into actuary/commerce/science (which i will pick computing) but i am not sure about taking the course. Well, i know it wil make good money and the job prospects r good but i am just afraid of the maths involved. I did 4u maths and droped out cause i found it hard and boring. I did 3u and for 80-90 until my teacher changed (crappy teacher doesnt know how to mark) and ended with a e3 in 3u maths. So, i am wondering... will the maths be too much for me? Or i will only need to work harder. Please give advice.

I reckon some of the acturial subjects are way more advanced than 4unit maths, so if you struggle with 4u, then its probably not a good idea to go actuarial.

I was geting 90s. My new indian teacher (no discrimintion intended) didnt know how to mark. As in, as soon as u do a step wrong, the whole answer is wrong, no marks for working etc (this really hurt in like 6 mark quetsions). But 4u i think i found it hard because i missed out on alot of classes, since it was morning classes and i over slept (silly me). Anyways, is there like a website where i can find some of the maths content in actuaray?... or a photocopy from tha actuary text book?. Because actuary is one of the options i am considering, and i dont want to regret not giving it more thought later on. Thanks for your replys so far. =]

the maths gets more and more difficult, and i dont know if there is any point in you looking at textbooks now because of course you wont understand it since you havent been taught the content yet.

Actuarial students have to do Math132 and Math133 in first year.

I think for actuarial studies the minimum requirement is E4 in Ext 1 Maths, someone can confirm.
