USyd because it's old, it has sandstone and its average entrance marks are higher.

That means it's more in demand because of aforesaid reasons. Personally I've never really been attracted to Syd... a uni needs to have more than pretty buildings to appeal to me.

Obviously or I wouldn't be going to UTS. Hahaha

Meh... They are both universities located in sydney, they both offer similar courses, they both have good points and bad points, and when you finish your course you get a degree... Well that pretty much sums it up.

New South Wales is bigger than Sydney
Not in campus size (unless you include cofa and adfa i guess), but students yes. I go to UNSW by the way but could have easily gotten into usyd for the same course. The college informals at usyd are mad fun though, something which UNSW colleges lack, although the balls at the kenso's are good fun.

Depends what course you do. But from memory, usyd was ranked 38th and unsw 39th in the world.

they're both excellent universities specialising in their own things just like maq is best for commerce and UTS is best for tech. i just don't want to go to unsw because its too huge, its too far and it doesn't have vet science. the contrary of all these reasons is why im going to usyd. and that its an amazing uni..

By overall reputation in Australia, USYD (by a very very small margin i'd say)
By overall reputation worldwide, equal or UNSW (just because it's more internationalised and has the most partnerships, but really, equal).

In terms of campus, depends on what kind of person you are but i'd have to say USYD.

In terms of the variety of courses offered, USYD.
In terms of future potential, UNSW.
In terms of society and friendliness, depends if you're anglo or non-anglo and how well you mesh with other races.

But wtf are you studying. Shouldn't that be the thing that governs where you study?

UNSW/USYD pwns Macquarie overall. But if i was studying actuarial studies, i'd most likely go Macquarie.

How could you possibly say that without even knowing that each uni is now being forced to 'specialise' and that any 'overall'-ness is geared towards a biased way of looking at how 'good' a uni is?

Remember, UOW beat all other sydney unis in a recent scaling..
