unsw vs. usyd for commerce (1 Viewer)

I'm confused as to whether unsw or usyd is better in the commerce sector as different people say different things. I've noticed in recent years the cut off marks for unsw were 95-96ish whereas usyd was 94-95ish. My expected atar is 95-96 yet, I need advice on what people think.. share your thoughts

The cut-offs only indicate how much the course is in demand. So don't take that as any indicator as which university offers a better degree. In the end they are both top universities in Australia. Go to the open days and see which degree suits your taste more.

Commerce has a better reputation at UNSW.

They are both good unis but I think UNSW has more majors to choose from eg. usyd doesn't have actuary.

UNSW you can get in with low 90's, if you manage to get band 5 and 6 in English or 2/3/4 unit maths!

If you're asian go to UNSW

If you like pretty girls go to Sydney (note: they probably won't be in commerce)

The only difference is, like kaz1 said, if you want to do actuary go to UNSW

Other than that, it's about the campus and student life you prefer (which is important if you're at all social)

we have a really good commerce department

instead of all that "evaluation of securities" business

we have "narcotics street assigned pricing 1001"

usyd if you want to study an insane amount of hours and still get a mediocre grade.

English Advanced , English Extension 1 and 2. 2/3/4U maths are the only subjects you can get awarded Bonus points.

UNSW commerce is a very nice course, and yeah it's full of Asians lol

On a side note I hate it how UNSW is so liberal with its bonus points...yet Usyd is just cruel.

UNSW does have a better reputation with ABS (australian business school)...

All this 'UNSW comm is apparently better/has a better reputation', are there facts to back this up? e.g. number of graduates employed?
