Hi people,

May someone give me a quick rundown on what is done in 1st year Science (B Science degree)? Can't seem to find it on UNSW website or elsewhere

do you know what you want to major in yet? if you haven't decided then it's best to pick a variety of subjects that are required for a lot of majors, e.g. chem, maths, and biology. if you have decided then you can go to that first link and click one of the majors under number 3, there it will say all the subjects you are required to do for your first year (stage 1), and since you do 8 subjects every year, the rest you can fill in with whatever other first year subjects interest you, or subjects commonly required for other majors in case you change your mind down the road. hope that's what you were asking if you have any questions, I'm currently doing my first year in B science so I should be able to help you out

So if i decide om a maths major, what would be my 1st year (core) subjects?

either math1131 or math1141 for first semester and math1231 or math1241 for second semester, and math1081 is recommended but not compulsory, as it says here: http://www.handbook.unsw.edu.au/undergraduate/plans/2014/MATHM13970.html
in both semesters the two subjects are pretty much the same except in the latter you learn extra stuff and get harder questions, but it scales better and would probably be more interesting
