So I'm probably going to do this course and looking at its structure on the UNSW website, the first year is purely engineering. I have read somewhere (can't remember where) that you need to maintain a distinction average (75 wam i think) to stay in the course without having to drop to just engineering in the second year. Can anyone confirm this???? If this is true, can anyone give me some kind of idea of how difficult it is to maintain a distinction average in first year engineering ( also I'll probably be doing the flexible first year).

Don't think you have to maintain 75 WAM to stay in the course. However, you need 75 WAM to transfer into Eng/Comm (probably where you read it).

Maintaining 75 will require some consistent study/effort. Going to lectures, understanding the content, doing hw/problems, etc etc
