Hey guys my friends and I were wondering about uni marking methods. Consider the QMA online quiz as an example. Each QMA quiz is out of 10, and it's worth 1% each. Lets say I got 5/10, does that mean I get the full 1%? Since i got 5/10 i scored 50% of that 1% (0.5 of total marks), since there is rouding, does that mean I get the full 1 mark??

thanks in advance (sorry if it's confusing).

I am not sure, like I've heard someone said for online quiz you either get 0 or 1.

I think they round off as a whole in the end, isn't that how HSC worked too? It would seem logical especially when there's a lot of small assessments.

That would be epically stupid if it worked like that

It would be totally pointless to make quizes if they rounded them up.

i know that they round class tests up. like a 9.5 would become a 10 since apparently you cant enter 9.5 into the marking system (lol).

but I highly doubt that they would do what you are claiming and round up to the nearest %.

I reckon we get decimals. No way 5/10 leads to full 1%

@shinji: back then most people just thought about passing and doing what they could. they should just stop rigging the system.

Here's how it works in the subjects I've done.

The rounding occurs at the end of a subject (i.e. you can accrue small fractions of a mark)

Assessment 1 (weight 5 * 2% quizzes) Marks: 5, 7, 8, 2, 6 out of 10

Assessment 2 (weight 20%) Mark: 72/100

Assessment 3 (weight 10%) Mark: 50/75

Assessment 4 (weight 60%) Mark: 40/100

So your final mark would be;

(5/10*2)+(7/10*2)+(8/10*2)+(2/10*2)+(6/10*2)+(72/100*20)+(50/75*10)+(40/100*60)=50.67

Hence you are awarded a Pass with a mark of 51.

they do rounding at the end. so they'll input you getting 50% on a x weighted assessment item.
