What is there to do away from the house? I have 5 weeks off, I don't have a job and I'm scared that I will be bored shitless over the next month.

Why don't you look for a job then?
Unless I am mistaken, it seems very very hard to locate a casual/part time job. I very rarely see places hiring. When places are hiring, I am probably going to be overlooked because I don't have any experience (I handed out 15 resumes to places that were hiring or had just opened, months ago and never got any replies).

Yeah, it's bloody hard, but you have to keep on trying.

Otherwise you're going to get to your mid twenties with no work experience, and NO ONE will hire you.

Heaps on places are actually advertising atm for retail and such though.

Maybe you should work on your resume too, that can make a lot of difference.

Same, I looked for about 3 months during the end of last year and the start of this year, applied to like 12-15 places and never got a reply.

Gunna start looking again now in the event anything has changed....

That really isn't very many applications anyway if you have no experience.

If you started looking after your HSC it would have been too late, that's why, they hire earlier than that for the Christmas period.

I spose, guess I'll try and spam to more places and hope I can get something.

EDIT: Ah, that would be why, it was after HSC that I started looking :S

took me a bunch of resumes (significantly more than 15) and a couple of job interviews before i found a job that i actually wanted to do, and was hired for. I even did some day training with 2 places, only to realise it really wasn't the type of job I wanted.

Perhaps try applying through online sites such as seek.com, or if your uni has any careers programs, that could work.
