ranks are good. try improving in english. You could also try to improve a little in your marks.

Since your schools is ranked 300 ish, id say the top uai was probably 97 or something???? correct me if i am wrong. and the uai distribution is probably very spread out, so id say you could get 80

Yes but how realiable are those marks. A student's school might be setting easy tests and everyone is getting 90+ but when the real HSC comes, the marks will be much lower.

Try to use your ranks to gauge a mark from previous years, much more accurate.

SAM is redundant with your school results. You can only effectively use SAM once you know what you got in HSC exams. You can still play with SAM to get your desired UAI. :)

If your UAI aim is 99.55, you will need to come first in all your subjects or try to get the Dux Award. Considering that your school's Dux got 98, you should try harder, it seems.

I disagree, SAM is still effective when before you do your HSC because, teachers can predict HSC marks pretty good. But besides, it gives you an idea of about the sorts of marks you will need to get about a certain UAI. Assuming scaling doesn't change too much, and its mostly pretty consistent from year to year.

you put in your HSC marks. the ones that you get on your HSC certificates.
obviously you don't know these yet, so the whole point of SAM is to show you about what uai you would get with certain HSC marks. raw marks are quite different.

no don't put in your raw marks. and don't put in them scaled to what you think, because SAM is designed to the the UAI scaling. you should enter your HSC marks.

you would ask your teachers what they predict you will get as HSC marks with your current performance, and put those marks that your teacher tells you in.

best way to do it is to find out, generally, how many b6s and 5s your school gets in each subject. i.e. if 10 get b6 in chem and you're 5th, put in something in the low 90s.

ps: you should try xfer to a t100 school if you can

Doesn't your school publich such results? My school puts them in the papers so we can how many people got Band 6s. Last year, we had about 10 people getting Band 6 in MX1. From that I can see what I can expect to get in MX1. :)

Try the method that Rhanoct and me121 suggested, it's pretty damn accurate. :)
