Ah i remember doing Harwood. Oh how i hated it XD

From the top of my head, this is what i can remember.

Triste means sad in some language, so the title means Sad, Sad.

It can be interpreted in many ways. Commone interpretations are: the poem is about the inextricable connection between soul/spirit and heart/body, the time between lovemaking and sleep, the soul trying to escape from the body etc etc

There are plenty of techniques including repetition, references to christianity and symoblism.

My teacher has said alot about spirit and soul throughout the poem but i didn't quite understand what she was going on about. i missed a lesson, and have now discovered we have a journal article (we are imagining we are gwen harwood) due tomorrow, and the poem isn't the easiest of hers.
thankyou though.

it's about the soul being trapped in the body but like the time between sex and sleep is where it is released or something

You can also read this poem about the constraints of society againsts a poet's artistic qualities and writing capability.
