Heard CSSA trials are usually harder than the HSC exams....thats always encouraging!

hey, i'm in the same boat as you. complete FAILLLLLL.... well, by my standards, that is. :mad1: I was also looking to an 85+ uai...... but that dream has been quashed most certainly.. But, i guess i should have studied a bit more.... oh well. As ye sow, so shall ye reap..... and i sowed nothing.

Well, I guess as long as you did good in other assessments, then you'd do aiight if you can pwn the HSC...

Oh-key, since everyone started posting up hax marks and 1st places, I'd just like to say I fucked up hard.
Really, really hard.

Uh, we haven't got them ALL back yet, but all of them are passes and some are decent (like, 71%+)

sigh, anybody know if i still have any chance for a 85+ uai at the moment?
I've done quite well in assessments, just not tests.
i'm even thinking of repeating Year 12 if the need calls for it.

haha, we're not all 1st placers. i, for one, have just managed to hear of 3rd places

71% is ok depending on the subject you do (e.g. 71% on a cssa ext 2 maths papers sounds very, very decent) and the marks you're aiming for. If you're looking at a UAI of 85, i think you've got a very good chance. Don't be thrown off by some of the people here who are aiming for 99.xx

Basically...

-Advanced English = 58% (i tried cramming 4 essays in one night. Didn't work.)
-Eng Ext 1 = 70%
-Eng Ext 2 = 88% (internal assessments)
-Gen Maths = 77% (wtf... only 77%, highest was like... 83ish)
-Business = 56% (also a WTF)
-Software = ?* (didn't get it back yet; assuming 65%+)
-Physics = LOL 12% our class average was like 28~34% (doesn't count)

well we were given our MODIFIED business marks in class today WTF... just give us our fucking raw marks. Turns out I got 22/30 for my trial.. i tied with a chick who is coming first in the grade for business. 22/30 better not be my raw mark.. geez c'mon I'm sure I pwned that test. Maybe the whole grade pulled my mark down cauz they are shit?

Getting my results tommorow, so nervous.

Although I know what to expect really, its just having my fears come true that I'm nervous about.

Expectations:

• Biology: good (90+)
• Chemistry: average to good (around 70-80)
• English adv: average to good (around 70-80)
• Maths 2u: good (80+)
• Maths 3u: average, maybe bad (60-70, hopefully not lower)
• Spanish: good (80+)

So I already know what I'm gonna get... if only I could skip the actual "getting" part.

Lots of people especially at my school feel the same after their trial results and hate me saying this once they know what I got but from my understanding its all about the ranks and someone coming 3rd says argh suicide i got 56% but who cares, thats 3rd...thats great...unless its a small class and 1st and 2nd got 90s otherwise u can get 50% for everything as along as u maintain a decent rank not too far away from those who are above u and get a UAI of 95 or more

.....unless your ranks are now low but as long as the class does well in the hsc you should be ok

- Based on no personal experience or profession advice of course but it may make you feel better

Well I think it's official, I got 73% in my business trial :mad1: The highest apparently was 84.5%. There goes my rank (Goes to look at TAFE courses) Fucking hell I studied heaps for business with the dude who came first in this trial and he knew less than me.

damn! crazy ranks!! it aint that hard to predict your chem and phys rank judging from your english and maths....man you killed it!! unless you have 2 ppl in your grade...

just an update:

Bio Trial Exam: 89% which I was quite disappointed with because this is the first time I got below 90% but I still managed to come first with an overall mark of 94/100 and an overall ranking of 1/15

AND I received my marks for the chem prac which was 28/30

Overall I'm uber-pleased with my results

hmm not bad... at least physics doesn't count

i'll also break the pattern of all the 1st placers here.... let's say i go to a pretty competitive school in the top 40.... my highest mark of the trials ive received back so far has only been 66% (below average).

yeah pwning the hsc is basically my plan at this point.

i think, personally, if i can work my arse off a 90 uai *may be* achievable on my part, it was just that for trials i did not study at all (except for 1 subject). chemistry trials i failed, but previously i was ranked 7/80 so i haven't been a slug all of year 12...

i don't know what happened, my mood towards the whole HSC thing has been so erratic, i'm often fighting against myself because i want the peace of mind that hsc isn't the be-all and the end-all (as unfortunately some ppl seem to treat it at my school) but i also can't help but feel the need to fit into the competition...

i think i've also been very stubbornly idealistic... i get really turned off when people say they aim for a high uai because of aesthetic reasons like status or cos it will lead them to a highly-esteemed and high paying job. i'm crazy enough to live in the gutter as long as i'm doing something i love. i think that partly explains my defiance during trials (no, it wasn't just because i was too lazy to study)... anyway this conflicting thing has been on my nerves because no one else understands it.

does anyone else feel like this??? i'd feel a lot more human!
