The Aerobic threshold can usually be referred to as the level at which the body can train continuously, as the amount of lactic acid build-up is sustained by the amount of oxygen that we breathe in, the LA is broken down by the oxygen. This threshold is usually at around 70% of THR.
The anaerobic threshold is the level at which our body trains to a near maximum level. This level of intensity can usually only be sustained for a few minutes as there is insufficient amounts of oxygen being breathed in and so LA builds up 2 quickly! This level is usually at around 85% of THR.
Mate just remember that the target training zone for aerobic performance is between 70-85% because from 70% onwards training for usually 30mins+ will produce positive adaptations in cardiovascular fitness, and below 85% will prevent LA build-up occurring 2 quick.
Training at the aerobic threshold for 30mins+ will produce an improvement in CV Fitness (In a training program of course).
Training at the anaerobic threshold (85%+) will improve the body's capacity to sustain LA build-up and so improve performance.
Best of luck everyone, just think of skoolies!!!!!
