before this gets too far (kinda has) don't forget that american students do visit this forum. Bitching about them doesn't make us any better than them. Just let it be as it is, it doesn't make us look stupid simply coz they say we are.

That kind of attitude is just as bad as the arrogance you are criticizing.
not really ... it's just expressing an opinion but not premising it on an arrogant understanding of one's own greatness. it would be just as bad as the arrogance being criticised if it went something along the lines of: "god i hate american tourists because they are prima facie morons and we are so much more intelligent than they are".

i am currently in a relationship with a lovely, lovely former Utah resident, so i obviously love Americans in general :)

hugs for you all :)

If American doctors are so good then why is the American standard of health so pothetic? So what if American doctors can concurrently conduct multiple open-heart surgeries? Is it addressing the source of the problem? No.

thats not the doctors fault its the politicians..

politicians --> fund health--->health system..

i dun doubt tat some of their doctors arent good.. but the health system they are in.. is a socialist nightmare :)

(btw.. aust govt funds observers to see how the US system operates... as we may want to head towards a consumer pays system too.. )

No we fucking do NOT.

The corporations want it, not the people. At least, not the people intelligent and/or educated enough to realise that a user pays system is a sin against human dignity.

like KFunk, I appreciate the hypocrisy present in both the OP and many others here.

another representative of american supremacy?
You're being very one sided. If you're going to attack 'American arrogance' you have to be willing to look at how bad Australians can be at the same time. A lot of Americans actually decide not to come here (or to leave) due to the amount of racism agaisnt Americans and anti-American sentiment (as aposed to them seeing our universities as sub-par). I'm half American msyelf, I'm a duel citizen and I have a lot of people I know and love over there. I know you're unthinkingly throwing a lot of statements around but blanket statements like 'I hate all Americans' and 'all Americans are arrogant'are genuinely stupid/ignorant.

I'd have let it alone but that last thing you said showed that you're really not being balanced in your considerations (it sounds more like an inferiority complex now). Yes there is certainly arrogance present in America (as in all countries) but try to look at both sides of the coin before making petty generalisations.

You are getting unreasonably emotional. For one, I haven't never said such thing as "I hate all Americans" or "All Americans are arrogant". Please reread the entire thread before you accused me and other members here. I simply brought up the issue and I have not given any conclusive statement about Americans in general. For another, I am neither an Australian nor an American, where does an inferiority complex stem from? The Americans on the two forums provided mainly target Australians.

Likewise, read my post before you accuse me of accusations :p. I never quoted anyone directly, i'm commenting on the undertones. I would, however, say that "I hate american tourists" is on par with "I hate americans" (not equivalent, but just as bad).

Okay. Someone said "I hate american tourists.", not me. :)

and KFunk, my apologies to you for not expressing myself more clearly in that, personally, I have nothing against Americans in general. Please don't get me wrong.

and BobJ, I don't think closing this thread is a good solution; it totally defeats the purpose of a forum. Just make sure we all reply with prudence from this point on so that the discussion doesn't get out of control.
