i would garentie 100% but human error and stupid mistakes will take it down to around 97 + or - 1.

You amuse me since you told me I was probably "shit at chem in general" or some nonsense along those lines but obviously you lack total presence of empathy in putting yourself in my situation where the teacher is deficit of knowing anything about their subject in which they are meant to have some expert knowledge.

ohk i clear up ur mistakes.

1 - i do have empalthy i am an exothermic creature.
2 - i know what its like to have a shit teacher, i have to teach my self physics its hard but do-able.
3- im happy because i have successfully de-railed ur thread

To the OP Im doing Chemistry as well this year.
I tell you now my teacher is by far the worst teacher for Chem. She does cover the dotpoints but so generally im telling you last week in one period she covered all of Section 2 (Haber Process) in Chem Mon and Man. THats unbelievably fast.
And last year for my yearly I completely failed. Im talking 30%
Now but Im like 4th out of 40+ at 86% because I put in the effort and want to learn. Get yourself some books and do dotpoints. Dont listen or bother with what the teacher says. First three weeks of this term Ive done jack because I already know it..
In regards to your initial question.
Id keep it well because it Scales (much better then BIO and yeh i do BIO)
And + its fun subject. That Cation Flame Test is hectic

Anyone know if Physics scales better then chem. Im like 8th in it ffs i got 3 and 4 U all around me. Need to pick up some ranks.

hey,

i did chem in my hsc and i absolutely loved it. wikepedia really helped (i read it in my spare time, just like ppl who read bbc or SMH.com.au)...

anyway, i must say chem is a hard subject. its not easy, especially towards the end when the pressure really builds up.

in terms of scaling, chem does scale better, a 90 in bio doesnt equal a 90 in chem in the hsc. however, u also need to look at hwat u want to do after u get out of high school. for example, do u want to get into a field that involves chemistry? like Chemical engineering or material science or inducstrial chemistry. if the answer is yes than i say keep it cos the knowledge u lean in hsc would greatly help u in uni... at least in first year.

on the other hand, if compared to ur other subjects, u are struggling like crazy and it is affecting the performance of ur other subs, than i say definately drop it. Here is an example, after y11, i picked ext2 maths in term 4 of y11. that was hell. I spent too much time trying to grasp ext2 and not enought time on my other subs and as a result my graded fell DRAMATICALLY! like 80 average in ext1 maths suddenly became a 30 and 90+ in 2 unit became a 60. so i dropped it and never looked back.

ultimately the decision is up to u. if u want to drop it because of a bad teacher, than i say get a tutor and understand what the syllabus wants. do heaps of practice hsc questions and go to class and ask heaps of questions. science is about asking questions and thinking about the hypothetical - eg, "what would happen if so and so did this? would this result in this? why does it?...
