I remember a friend of mine complaining to the teacher over a commerce essay back in year 9, we were comparing our essays, mine had about 20 ticks all up, his had more than 50, but his mark was 15/20 and mine was 18/20... he ended up complaining with the teacher for the rest of the lesson lol...

moral of the story: ticks =/= marks :)

Last year I remember my essay my english teacher marked in pencil, ONE comment, "More textual evidence" NO TICKS what so ever, i got 12/15. I was pretty much like wtf

We have a marker in our Eng factulty that gives ticks for everythings. You could have 3 ticks just for one sentence lol

totally kinder off topic
but in japan
they TICK work that is WRONG
and CIRCLE work that is RIGHT

'ticks' are not indicative of marks.
some teachers 'tick' more than others, but they could still give you the same mark.
try reading comments if you want to know why you didn't get those 2 marks.
:) but 13/15 is still great!

Ticks are basically how the teacher keeps track of what they've read so when they come to marking your work at the end, they can go back and see what they've ticked and therefore formulate a result for you.
