wow i rarely ever see free notes posted. every time i go on there its always ppl saying "comment below ur email and ill send u my free notes" and then there would be like 400 comments and they cant possibly send notes to all 400 ppl. like just post the link to the google drive so everyone can access it at once? idk or maybe that just the 2022 discussion page
hahahah that's so trueeee

dont go there if the 2022 one is anything like the 2021 one, all the posts will be about anything but the hsc, youre much better of just using BoS

:bosman: Bored of Studies > Facebook HSC Discussion Group :bosman:

As a year 12 student, BoS is a much better place for you to be than the Facebook group. Resources and relevant study material are much more organised and easily accessible here, as opposed to the Facebook group, where a useful resource might be lost rather quickly. You are also mostly surrounded by like-minded students with similar goals to you who can help you and whom you may be able to help.

Perhaps the best aspect of BoS is continuity. Unlike the Facebook group, finishing your HSC does not mean there is no longer a purpose for your presence on this site. The Facebook group targets a specific cohort each year, meaning that once the target cohort completes their HSC, the group becomes inactive, which is not the case of BoS. There are several users who have completed their HSC long ago yet remain here to be regularly making wonderful contributions.

BoS is a great community indeed! :D

yes i agree, thanks for helping so many ppl despite finishing ur hsc yrs ago! and do u even sleep? you're always online so late
My pleasure! The semester has been quite intense, meaning that while I do sleep, I don't sleep for as long as I'd like to. But it's okay because the semester will be over in just over 2 weeks, can't wait for the holidays! :D

pretty sure to get mod you need to be an active member initially
Yep, all of the mods/smods/admins/webmaster on BoS are volunteers who started out as active users.

Mods might be "biased" as they clearly like contributing and using the site, but they do not have a vested interest so it's not as much of a bias as it sounds like there.

I agree with Jimmy though, besides having a cross-cohort user base, a forum and resource repository like ours has greater posterity. Help, discussions and resources which remain largely relevant for a long time will stay around and people will be able to find them via Google - the same can't be said about facebook groups or similar.

While not necessarily a pro compared to an FB group where the same applies, BoS is also independent from schools/tutoring companies/universities/publishers etc. which is good as it allows open and balanced discussions about those entities and their services.

Says in the title "HSC Discussion Group" which means after HSC meaningless. Bored of Studies is superior because if you are someone who does an accelerated course like accelerated maths you can come back in and help students in Mathematics Advanced or Mathematics Extension I in Year 12.

BOS feels more tailored and designed towards a supportive community, I believe thats why even after so long from its creation date, there still exists an active community which thrives on support and contribution. I think this is one unique aspect of BOS that most other forums have not been successful to replicate, while garnering masses through the usage of platform, they are unable to sustain an active community which integrates all forms of users.

I think thats why I prefer this more objectively than other forums, they seem, and no offense, superficial.

I mean to be fair we did have a 17 page thread arguing about kit kat and chocolate every day 11 pm to 2 am
I think that is the good thing about BoS, you ca have seperate threads for non-school related stuff. But with the facebook group all the non-school related stuff gets mixed in together.

yea ye i was just joking around, if this was only study related it would feel a bit boring haha the random threads are funny. Its good because they're separated so you don't get one or the other unless you click that thread specifically.
