 the boArd of studies stupidly changed the syllabus, so most stuff we learn in years 11 and 12 now won't be ready on this website

Which website, this one?

Most of the stuff will still be relevent, it hasn't changed that dramatically.

If in doubt ask questions (and be sure to post 2008/2009 resources!!)

Only change I knew of was in Area of study (English), and that's for 2009'ers. Not 2008.

I heard the changed Area of Study in Eng. Adv. Next year, no more Journey. Think its going to be "Belongings".

For what subject/s?
As far as I know only English.

They have swapped around a lot of things, changed module electives, texts etc.

But this happened in 2004 so I don't understand why people are crying. Just means they don't get as much foreword of what to expect than say our year because journeys has been done 3 times already.

Exactly. The syllabus changes. Always has, always will. Suck it up.

Everyone is on the same level, so it makes no difference at all in the end.

i reckon its good, who wants to live in a society where everyone knows the same thing, think of this as an oppurtunity to expand the overall knowlegde of our society.

Does this mean I can still sell my notes and textbooks for ridiculously high prices?

For the AOS (i'm not commenting on the modules) they only changed the word "journey" to "belonging", in the prescriptions document. In fact the syllabus has not changed!

The skills you learn and the things you are examined on are EXACTLY the same, it's just that you now have a different focus.

I think this is a good thing, because it should remind you that you are not actually studying "Journey" or "Change" or "Belonging" rather you are studying ENGLISH.

it could be advantageous because you're the first year to go through it, so the markers won't be absolutely sick of the topic and the texts/relateds like they probably are of journeys... actually, when i look at a couple of my texts, they could work for belonging as well.

but yeah, i don't think that'll make things more difficult, they won't mark harder, it just means you can't use the resources from the previous years...

My english teacher thinks the change in syllabus is good for us 09ers cause he expects that the HSC examination essay questions will be more general as they have never been asked before so yay :)

Not 100% sure but i think also the PD/H/PE slyabus is changing because most students want to know more about they are learning, but unfortunately they can because they have to move on, so now its more in depth and less stuff to learn. I Don't know what is being changed exactly so sorry about that. This is what i have heard so if i get it wrong dont bite my head off.
