I am going crazy out of my mind because for my first Year 11 Physics assessment task, I have been set an impossible problem:

Identify an area of current research on the application (technology) of your choice, naming the Australian Scientist invovled, the advancement in the technology realised or envisioned and where the research is being carried out.

Here are my problems
1)Nobody is researching anything, anywhere. Only how to make it cheaper. They only announce it AFTER they've done it, not before!
2)There's no such thing as an Australian Scientist. Not these days.

If ANYONE, has any idea, please help me. Give me a name, a link, the name of the scientific jorunal, whatever. They must be researching/trying to advance one of these technologies:
Global Postioning System
CD Technology
The internet (digital process)
DVD technology
iPods
3G mobile phones
HD TV
Fibre Optics

P.S. we're studying how waves work to make these technologies, so if the research is about EMR waves/Soundwaves then GOOD!
