That's what I assumed too, that they would just pay it out. I can always hope. Of course, I have to be offered a position first or this is a moot point.

nah im pretty sure you'll keep it, as it just goes with your employee number. i still have all my leave from when i was a PPT so now its just paid at a higher rate, but i no longer get loading.

For South Australia (the agreement I know because it's the one I work under):

Period of continuous service --> Period of notice
Less than 1 year --> 1 week
1 year and less than 3 years --> 2 weeks
3 years and less than 5 years --> 3 weeks
5 years and over --> 4 weeks

(s.20.1.1 of the Agreement)

That's for termination only; if they make your position redundant, and hence want to terminate your employment for that reason, it's a far more lengthy set of conditions and payments.
haha okay a little insight. woolworths has to give you notice before they fire you, but if they dont want you they just wont roster you.

i had some bad casuals in my dept so we no longer gave them shifts. After 4 weeks area HR calls and says you must give them a shift. at this point we just said their availability doesnt fit with our requirements and they are forced to resign. :)

You just get used to it. I don't think I've ever got to the stage where I have hated it. I have always viewed it as a means to an end. It has helped me pay through uni, and will probably get me a graduate job at the end of the year. You could say we have been good for each other.

Lol, I agree!
I've been in customer service for about 2 years myself, and well..... I'm ready for something else. But unfortunately, until I get through uni, it's really all I can do.

Ive got a question:

Im back in Australia now and am looking for a job - thinking of applying everywhere (Woolies included)

What are the chances that Woolworths will re-hire someone who left and is now coming back? My Manger ticked the "would re-employ" box on my leaving interview thing but just wondering in reality what chances would be to be re-employed?

Quite good actually, atm.

I don't know how long you have been back here but in the past couple of weeks there has been good PR for Woolworths as they have announced that they are looking for 7000 new jobs, unlike most other big businesses which are looking to cut back.

I would think you would have to be considered an excellent chance if there was an opening available.

I was talking to a girl at my store who went away for a year and she re-applied and was emailed back the next day for an interview. she said she only had to bo re-trained because the new reggoz were installed while she was away.

Supermarkets are one of the sectors which won't experience much of (if any at all) a downturn simply because people will now begin "eating in" more often meaning that they buy more items from supermarkets...
