I'm doing actuaries and app fin at mq, that's what a 96+ ATAR course. Yes, my parents neglected me by sending me to a public school, which is the whole fucking of this thread.
Wow home-schooling clearly makes you a state-ranking worthy English student

I do, I want to build a perfect child, with the best specifications. That's why I promote eugenics and homeschooling.
1) Don't objectify other human beings.

2) Perfection is unattainable, all we can do is strive to achieve it.

I know it's not, just thought you should know why you're were homeschooled.

In fact, how about asking your parents the question "why wasn't I homeschooled?"

And let's see what excuses your parents can come up with. Their answer will equate to the effect of "son, we just didn't give a shit about your education"

"Mum, Dad why wasn't I home schooled?"
"who in this house is a teacher?"

Assuming that the current method of calculating total HSC marks and ATARs will apply in the future...

I'd pick public schools over homeschooling.
At least, in public schools, I'd have the moderated HSC assessment mark as my insurance policy.

If I were to be homeschooled, I'd be rekt for my HSC, where I have no moderated HSC assessment marks to fall back on.
I'd rather not have 100% of my HSC marks (and ATAR, by extension) dependent on 5 or 6 exams toward the end of the year.
No hun, it works something like this.

K-10, full time homeschooling in NSW (or part-time in Canberra or Vic if you want), then in year 11 and 12, normal full time schooling or hsc pathway, or skip HSC altogether and do SAT or IB or alternative entry.

There are many ways, don't know why so many parents don't think outside the box.

You're parents are pretty stupid is they have less ability to teach than public school teachers.

"hey parents why didn't you homeschool me"

"because we had jobs that earned the money to put food on your table, clothes on your back, a roof over your head and take you on holidays"

And that requires income from both parents?

Hey if you want to be homeschooled, then that's fine by me, but I hate it when you try to force your opinion through and diss on anyone who isn't homeschooled. Attending a public school (whether selective or not) means you get to interact with other kids your age. It also benefits you by providing you with properly qualified teachers, who have been trained by the DEC. You also become more independent whilst at school and you learn to become more organised. When you start work, or when you enter uni/TAFE, you can't go running for your mummy everytime you're hungry. And no, you can't just hand in your so-called homework and assignments anytime, or take a potty break every 15 minutes.

Really, public schools prepare you better for "real life" because they provide the students with important skills. If the only people you talk to are your parents, siblings and probably mainly online friends, you're not going to have much social skills. Fine, public schools do have some shitty people, but you're gonna get shitty people in your workplace as well. Heck, you're gonna have to learn to deal with shitty people who pop up in your everyday life, be it co-worker, boss, customer, that random stranger sitting next to you on the train.. everywhere.

Re: The real reason why you weren't homeschooled, your parents don't love you enough.

We all know that homeschooling is much more effective than schools, especially public schools (I feel sorry for kids who have to attend nonselective public school in Western Sydney, imaging keep your child locked up with lebs and children of losers for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week...), so why aren't it more popular?

Well, not only will your parents lose some income which they want to save up for their retirement rather than spending on you anyway, they simply find their job more interesting than teaching you. And if your parents don't speak English or are so uneducated that they think the public school system would do a better job, in that case, I feel even more sorry for you.

Sure, you might argue that "I went to a non selective public in Western Sydney and got ATAR of 95", yeah but you're the rare one, doesn't change the fact that your parents didn't care about your education and left your education at your own disposal. They think that they have fulfilled their parental responsibility simply by giving that responsibility to the state, (or if your Asian, the state + some private tutoring), instead of teaching you like those real parents that actually gives shit about their parental investment in their child.

So if you go to a shitty school full time, your parents simply don't love you.
